1. SMF VRLA BATTERIES: VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) or SMF (Sealed Maintenance Free) batteries do not require periodic topping – up of water. Because these batteries are completely sealed, they are spill – proof and normally do not emit any harmful fumes or gases. VRLA/ SMF batteries are best suitable for applications where the back – up requirement is usually short. The most common application of VRLA/SMF batteries is in Online UPS and are therefore referred to as UPS batteries.
